The Morning Shave

Sports Illustrated Launches New Resort Collection.

One of the most well-known names in sports is launching a collection of resorts. They already have one resort in the Dominican Republic, but now they’re expanding to add high-profile tourist destinations and college towns, including Tuscaloosa and Orlando. In addition to the normal features you’d expect at resorts, SI will add sports-specific elements to attract sports fans. To make this happen, SI partnered with Travel + Leisure to build resorts ranging from 100 rooms to 400+ room resorts.

JetBlue’s New Family Seating Guarantees Kids Under 13 Sit with Adults.

I don’t understand why every airline doesn’t make this basic consideration for families traveling with young children. Of course, my kids want to sit next to me or my wife. And, no rational adult wants to sit next to a kid crying for their parents or who may not be on their best behavior. I’m glad that more airlines are seeing the value of building good relationships with families and young passengers who have a lifetime of travel ahead of them.

Air France-KLM Joins SAS Investor Group, Flipping Airline to SkyTeam.

Air France-KLM is taking advantage of the Scandinavian Airlines bankruptcy reorganization to buy a 19.9% stake in the company and flip it from oneworld to the SkyTeam alliance. SAS should emerge from bankruptcy in 2024 and make a transition to the new alliance shortly thereafter (pending regulatory approvals). So, if you have a bunch of American Airlines AAdvantage miles and want to fly on SAS, now is the time to book your flight before you need other miles (like Delta SkyMiles) to book the same trip.

A taste of things to come from Hyatt.

Hyatt recently announced a chef-driven dinner series for one of its hottest properties, Impression Moxche by Secrets. This inaugural pop-up event is happening November 17th through 20th and is just the first of many collaborations with top chefs at its resorts. Many of these collaborations will be short-term, while others will lead to long-term deals at its properties.

Hundreds of Migrants Are Living at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

If you’ve traveled through Chicago’s O’Hare Airport recently, you may have noticed something new. There are now approximately 500 migrants living at the airport and sleeping on floors behind a large black curtain inside the shuttle bus center in Terminal 1. This situation is temporary while the city finds space for them in its shelters and tents, but it isn’t good for the migrants or travelers. We need to come together to find solutions here in the U.S. and back in their home countries.
