After months of planning, I launched my podcast this weekend. The We Travel There podcast interviews local experts from around the world to uncover the hidden gems of their city. We’ll share the best things to do, eat, drink, and see from a local’s point of view so you can travel like a local when you visit their town.

Which cities are on the list?

Although five episodes have been released, I’ve already interviewed 20 guests and have another 10 scheduled. The locations are cities small and large in the US and across the globe.

I’m looking for more guests to share the best their city has to offer. Submit your application now if you’d like to be on the show.

Which episodes are now live?

With the initial launch, five episodes were released covered a variety of cities:

Upcoming episodes over the next few weeks will include:

  • Ann Arbor, Michigan
  • Oahu, Hawaii
  • Hong Kong
  • Vancouver, Canada
  • A special edition focusing on the World Cup
  • Cancun, Mexico

We Travel There Podcast Launch Sweepstakes

The Bald Thoughts

Starting this podcast has been a lot of work. Honestly, it is way more time-consuming than writing blog posts. But it is also a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people and learn more about cities from a local’s point of view. I hope that you like the show!

I would love it if you subscribed, left a review, and shared the podcast with your friends. Good luck in the sweepstakes!

  1. I can’t wait to hear the Oahu podcast. I’ve explored that island more than any other destination, but I’m always discovering new things.

  2. I cannot seem to get to the podcasts where are they listed? I would like to know more about turks and caicos it you happen across there. Or New Orleans.

    • Hi Jenny, if you search on iTunes for “We Travel There” you can find and listen very easily. Or you can go to WeTravelThere.com and there are links in the right sidebar for the different platforms the podcast is available.

Each episode (hyperlinked above) has a media player embedded at the top of the page so you can listen to the interview from your computer as well.

Thanks for the suggestions of Turks & Caicos and New Orleans. Both great places to visit. I’ll add them to the list!

    • Thanks, Calvin. Hong Kong will release on October 1st and Vancouver will be October 8th. I’m looking for someone to interview for Japan. If you know of someone, please let me know. One of our writers, Charlie, loves Japan, so he might come on to share his favorite spots.

    • Thanks, Jason. I’m working on those show notes this week. The Oahu episode will be released on Monday, September 24. Be sure to subscribe so you’ll be sure to have it ready to listen! Have a great day.

    • Thanks, LaTanya. I have a few friends in the Charleston area. I’ll be sure to reach out to them and ask them to be on the show! We do have someone for Savannah, which is close by. But we do need to fill in that spot on the map! Have a great day.

    • Thanks, Lisa. Japan has such an intriguing culture. I haven’t been yet, but my writer, Charlie, says that Japan is his favorite country to visit. I’ll definitely be looking to interview some people about Japan.

    • Thanks, Barbara. It’s been a long time since I visited Key West, but I really enjoyed it as a child. I’ll look for someone! Please subscribe to the podcast so you’ll be the first to know when that episode goes live.

  3. I would love to see a Podcast from New Orleans. That is one of the places on my bucket list along with some of the Podcast you already did. Love to travel and love to see others pictures or videos of places I would love to see.

  4. I would love it if you featured New Zealand! I have always wanted to travel there. I enjoyed this episode because I have driven through Nashville but did not know a lot about it.

    • Thanks, Natalie! New Zealand is on my bucket list as well. That would be a great interview. Glad that you liked the Nashville episode. It’s my favorite episode primarily because it is my new hometown and we’re really looking forward to exploring everything it has to offer.

  5. Sounds like a good idea. I’m interested in your Oahu and Cancun information, and always want to hear a local’s point of view on non-tourist restaurants and activities. Thanks.

  6. I really enjoyed your recent podcast. I think you need to do episodes on Tucson and Sedona, Arizona, Coos Bay, Oregon and Malaysia.

    • Thanks, Meghan. Where in Alabama will you be? There’s a lot to do in Huntsville and plenty along the coast in Mobile. I had the pleasure of touring Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville a couple of years ago. And the beer and food scene is really good! Mobile and the Gulf Coast offers great beaches at an affordable price. I haven’t been in a long time, but plan to now that we’re local in Nashville and it’s not too far of a drive.

  7. The podcast was great, I haven’t thought about where outside of Canada I would like to go. Only ever traveled out of Canada once to Texas and honestly want to explore more of Eastern Canada.

    • Thanks, Tara. I appreciate the feedback. Hopefully, this podcast will encourage you to travel more. There is an amazing world out there waiting for you to visit and explore.

    • Thanks, Monique. I’m glad you liked it. Catalina is a fun island to explore. I’ve only been there once for part of a day while on a cruise down to Mexico. I’d like to go back and spend the night on the island. If you know of anyone that could speak about Catalina, please let me know.

  8. Sounds great we are doing more traveling now that our kids are grown. I’m looking forward to hearing about Oahu, Hawaii as we plan on visiting Hawaii next year.

  9. THRILLED to see Medellin on the list. I’ve been there 4 times in the last 18 months and have totally fallen in love with the city. In fact, I hope to move there full time asap. Check out my free online magazine below about visiting, investing & retiring in this city which truly enjoys perpetual springtime.

    • Thanks, John. I’m glad that you love the city so much. I’ve heard great things. My buddy Joseph Hogue of Peer Finance 101 has been living there for several years. It should be a very interesting interview. I’m excited to learn about Medellin and Colombia.

  10. I have to download an app to listen? Podcasts are not great for me due to poor hearing, I was hoping to find a link with captioning capabilities. I’ll just stick with the other entries I guess.

    • Sorry, Roberta, I don’t have that functionality yet. Much of what we cover in the podcast is included in the show notes for each episode. I think we include enough of the personality of the local expert and the city in the show notes that would help everyone enjoy a better experience when they visit the cities we interview. Good luck with the sweepstakes.

    • Glad you liked Austin. We have another episode about Austin from a different perspective that will launch in early 2019.

And we have someone from TravelZork coming onto the show to talk about how to use Las Vegas gaming loyalty programs to your advantage.

      Stay tuned for those episodes!
