When Is It Okay to Press the Flight Attendant Call Button?

In most situations, the need isn’t that urgent. Most flight attendants walk through the cabin on a regular basis, so you can flag them down as they walk by. I fly on a regular basis, and I think I’ve used the call button less than two times in the last five years. Worst case, get up out of your seat and find them in the galley. It will help out to stretch your legs and move your body to get your blood pumping anyway.

The U.S. Is Allegedly Using A.I. to Track Travelers’ Social Media. Should You Be Concerned?

I think it’s concerning anytime that a government tracks people without cause. I don’t do anything bad on social media, so there shouldn’t be much of a concern. However, you never know how a rogue government could use your data against you. For example, have you traveled to the “wrong” countries, or are you liking & commenting on posts that are against the ruling government? Lock down your privacy settings, and be careful what you post online. You never know if a government agency or a future employer will hold it against you.

  1. Is it ok to press the FA call button? For me, it’s yes and no.

If in international business class with lay flat seats and a red eye, I will press the call button on average of once a flight, sometimes twice. If domestic (US) first class or economy class (even international), I will go to the galley or wait for a FA to walk past.

    • That’s a good approach. I was primarily focused on domestic flights. In my experience, most Biz Class FAs are pretty good about being available and attentive, but not all of them are that good. And when you’re paying a lot (in cash or miles), you deserve high-end service.
