The Morning Shave

Micro-cation – What is It and Why You Need to Know More About It? – It seems that they’ve slapped a new moniker on something that most people with corporate jobs or kids in school already do. When I worked in the corporate world, we regularly took weekend-only trips or maybe added 1-2 vacation days surrounding a weekend or holiday to book a 3-5 day getaway.

Bilt Rewards adds two new airline transfer partners. – Bilt continues to improve its rewards program by adding two new airline transfer partners. The two additions are United and Cathay Pacific. Both of these programs are attractive to frequent flyers based on the value of their miles and partner airlines.

Airfares are going up. Blame full planes, not fuel prices. – Fuel prices are affecting flight prices somewhat, but I think the bigger issue is full planes. Almost every flight that I’ve taken over the last year has been full. As more people begin to travel again with COVID cases down (and their wallets full from those stimmy checks), demand for airfare is only going to increase. However, we’re not yet at the point where airlines are ready to put mothballed planes back into service.

It’s official: Flights are about to get more expensive to offset spiking jet fuel prices. – However, TPG thinks that flight prices are about to get more expensive due to the rise in jet fuel prices. It seems that airlines are looking to recapture $10-$20 on every ticket to offset fuel costs. Some of that will be from higher ticket prices, while others are from upsells and fees charged to passengers.

Caesars Limits Status Match Benefit from Wyndham Rewards. – A lot of my friends have been using status match challenges to receive benefits from programs that they have barely used in the past. In some cases, the perks are very lucrative. So, it’s not surprising that Caesars is shutting down this avenue because all of those perks (without corresponding revenue) end up hurting their bottom line.
