The Kimpton secret password comes out twice a year – once in the summer and again in the winter. The Kimpton summer secret password is typically announced in mid-May and they release the Kimpton winter secret password in mid-November.
The Kimpton Winter Secret Password for 2021 is “just chilling.” It is good through Monday, February 21, 2022. This is the perfect time to take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales to book reservations to take full advantage of this awesome extra perk!

How do you use the Kimpton Secret Password?
The Kimpton Winter Secret Password is simple to use. You don’t even need elite status or be a member of IHG Rewards to benefit from it.
Simply book a stay between now and Monday, February 21, 2022, at any Kimpton hotel or resort. Upon arrival, mention the Kimpton secret password “just chilling” at the check-in counter to receive a special gift.
What do you get with the Kimpton Secret Password?
While many travelers favor consistency, I love that every Kimpton hotel is different. And their execution of the Kimpton secret password is no exception. Every hotel treats the Kimpton Winter Secret Password differently.
Handmade gifts from the hotel
Some provide a unique gift or cocktail made by the local staff. For example, during our stay at the Kimpton Palomar in San Diego in January 2017, we received this drink kit to make a hot toddy.
Fun games and prizes
When we checked into the Kimpton Journeyman in Milwaukee and used the Kimpton Winter Secret Password, they brought out this goodie basket. It was filled with individually wrapped presents that you can choose from. Although none of the gifts were extravagant, I loved the effort and festiveness.
Free drink coupon
A free drink isn’t that exciting, but free is free. And when some hotels have pretty pricey drinks on the menu, one of these coupons can save you a bunch of cash. This coupon was given to me at the Kimpton Sir Francis Drake in San Francisco a couple of years ago when I used the Kimpton Winter Secret Password.
Other Kimpton secret password gifts
Some Kimpton hotels give guests the choice of what they’d like to receive when using the Kimpton Winter Secret Password. A few of the choices that I’ve been offered include:
- Two free drinks at the bar
- A movie and popcorn package
- Dining credit at the on-site restaurant
- Free valet parking
When offered the choice (or when they offer something I don’t like), I typically request free valet parking. Most hotels charge $30-$40 per night for valet parking, so those charges add up quickly! And when you receive that as a benefit, it is for your entire stay. So, if you’re staying multiple nights, ask if free valet parking is an option.
Upcoming stays to use Kimpton Winter Secret Password
I’m looking forward to using the Kimpton Winter Secret Password during my upcoming stays over the next three months. I only have one stay booked right now, but I need to book some additional visits.
- Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Atlanta. Anna is working this weekend, so we’re going to do a little staycation to start off 2017 and begin the process of requalifying for Inner Circle status.
I have a few IHG free night certificates and an Inner Circle new hotel free night certificate that I need to use. Currently, the free night benefit is available at the Shinjuku (Tokyo), Mai-Lai (Bangkok), Vividora (Barcelona), and Alton (San Francisco). Of these options, the most likely opportunity is the San Francisco free night.
It’s time to book some stays to use the certificates before they expire while enjoying the extra goodies that come with the Kimpton secret password.

I love being able to stack benefits with IHG Rewards and my Kimpton Inner Circle status. While IHG has extended elite status benefits for another year, it is never too early to start accumulating stay credits and points towards renewing status for next year. And with each stay, I’ll use the Kimpton Winter Secret Password of “Just Chilling” to receive a little something extra. Remember, whatever you receive is in addition to the $10 Raid The Mini-Bar benefits (Gold and above members) and the custom Inner Circle Welcome Amenity. Talk about spoiled!

Enjoyed spinning the social password wheel at Hotel Fontenot last night. Landed on free upgrade first, but since I’d already thankfully been upgraded to a Spa Suite, I got to spin again. Happily took home the prize: a nice bottle of red wine (didn’t need it during my stay since I thoroughly enjoyed Wine Hour).

I just stayed at the Hotel Monaco Philadelphia used the secret phrase and they gave me $50.00 bar and food credit.
