It’s really easy to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to one of their many airline or hotel partners. I’m going to Costa Rica this summer with Timmy, so I need to transfer points to Hyatt to redeem for the Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Resort. Follow these simple steps to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.
The Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Resort
The reason I’m transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards is to stay at the Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica. I used the Alaska Airlines Companion Pass to book the flights for Timmy and me this Summer when there’s no school or daycare options available. If you’d like the Alaska Airlines Companion Pass, please use my affiliate link to apply or fill out our free travel advice form so I can help you figure out the best way to reduce your travel costs.
The Andaz Papagayo is 15-30 minutes from the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport (aka Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport) and is a Hyatt Category 4 property. This means that nights redeemed for points are only 15,000 points a night. The annual free night certificate from the Hyatt credit card, that is good for Category 1-4 hotels, can be redeemed for a free night here as well!
How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt
Transferring points to Hyatt is a very simple process. Hyatt is one of ten transfer partners with Chase Ultimate Rewards. Other options include Marriott, British Airways, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.
Step 1 – log into your Chase account and click on “Go to Ultimate Rewards”
After you click through to your Ultimate Rewards’ account, if you have multiple cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points, then select which of those accounts you want to transfer from.
Step 2 – Hover over “Use Points” and click “Transfer to Travel Partners”
I chose to use points from my Chase Ink Plus card, which is a card focused on business spend, including 5x points on office supplies and telecom/internet expenses.
By clicking on “Transfer to Travel Partners”, you’ll be brought to a page where you can choose which travel partner you want to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to.
Step 3 – Choose Hyatt as your transfer partner
Please note that there are some new rules about transferring Ultimate Rewards points because some people were selling and transferring them to people not in their household or associated with their business.
We made some changes to our Chase Ultimate Rewards point transfer feature.
When you transfer points, you will need to select an eligible name from your account. For Consumer Card accounts, you may only transfer points to yourself or one additional household member who is listed as an authorized user on your card account. For Business Card accounts, you may only transfer points to yourself or an owner of the company who is listed as an authorized user on your card account.
If you previously saved your frequent travel program account information, you will need to re-enter it at this time. Please note, only primary cardmember frequent travel program accounts will be saved and authorized user (i.e. householder member or business owner) frequent travel program account information must be re-entered each time you want to transfer points.
You can choose between 6 airlines or 4 hotel brands. Click on “Transfer Points” to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your preferred brand.
