It’s really easy to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to one of their many airline or hotel partners.  I’m going to Costa Rica this summer with Timmy, so I need to transfer points to Hyatt to redeem for the Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Resort.  Follow these simple steps to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.

The reason I’m transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards is to stay at the Hyatt Andaz Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica.  I used the Alaska Airlines Companion Pass to book the flights for Timmy and me this Summer when there’s no school or daycare options available.  If you’d like the Alaska Airlines Companion Pass, please use my affiliate link to apply or fill out our free travel advice form so I can help you figure out the best way to reduce your travel costs.

The Andaz Papagayo is 15-30 minutes from the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport (aka Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport) and is a Hyatt Category 4 property.  This means that nights redeemed for points are only 15,000 points a night.  The annual free night certificate from the Hyatt credit card, that is good for Category 1-4 hotels, can be redeemed for a free night here as well!

Please note that there are some new rules about transferring Ultimate Rewards points because some people were selling and transferring them to people not in their household or associated with their business.

We made some changes to our Chase Ultimate Rewards point transfer feature.

When you transfer points, you will need to select an eligible name from your account. For Consumer Card accounts, you may only transfer points to yourself or one additional household member who is listed as an authorized user on your card account. For Business Card accounts, you may only transfer points to yourself or an owner of the company who is listed as an authorized user on your card account.

If you previously saved your frequent travel program account information, you will need to re-enter it at this time. Please note, only primary cardmember frequent travel program accounts will be saved and authorized user (i.e. householder member or business owner) frequent travel program account information must be re-entered each time you want to transfer points.
