The big concern is that AA and JetBlue command too much of this market and, therefore, make prices less competitive. Let’s see what happens.

Competition is normally a good thing. However, if the government makes this change, all of us consumers (and small businesses) could be negatively affected. While reducing credit card interchange fees could help retailers, it is highly unlikely that they’d actually reduce prices. Instead, the reduction of this expense would just increase their profitability and eliminate a huge source of miles, points, and cash back for the rest of us. Contact your Congressperson and tell them to vote no on the Credit Card Competition Act of 2022.
