I visited Seattle last February but was there for less than 36 hours. I saw many of the tourist sites such as the Public Market, “original” Starbucks and the Space Needle. A few weeks back I visited again for five days/four nights to stay at the Westin Seattle to experience more of Seattle.

Westin Seattle Review
There are a lot of hotel options in Seattle, both chain and mom and pop varieties. Being an SPG guy I focused on the Westin or Sheraton, both properties are highly rated but decided on the Westin as its location was more proximate to the sights and attractions that I was interested in.
The Uber ride from Sea-Tac Airport to the hotel took 25 minutes but was free thanks to the recent Uber-American Express promotion (read about it here)! I chose Uber Black, the upscale Uber X which offers options such as Range Rover, Jaguar, Porsche, and Rolls-Royce! If you haven’t used Uber before and would like to, you can get $20 off of your first ride.
Westin Seattle Check-In and Lobby
I arrived at the hotel around 6 pm and was immediately greeted by hotel staff. At check-in, I was upgraded to a Grand View Room, the top tier of non-suites. The room costs $48 more per night than the standard room, so I was grateful for the upgrade.

The Room
My room was on the 43rd floor and featured the Westin Heavenly King Bed, seating area, and an all-granite bathroom. While the room features were standard, I had a great view of both the city and Elliott Bay.
Hotel staff left me a welcome tray filled with salt & pepper kettle chips, nuts, sparkling and still Voss water, and local Redhook Extra Special Bitter Ale.
The Restaurant at Westin Seattle
The hotel has Relish Burger Bistro on site which specializes in an American classics with a modern twist. All of their meals are served a la carte, and they also serve entrees such as boneless half chicken, craft salads, and Steelhead Trout.
Westin Seattle Location
The Westin Seattle is within walking distance of top Seattle sites such as Kerry Park, The Space Needle, and Chihuly Garden and Glass. There are also some great restaurants within walking distance such as Lola Mediterranean and Assaggio Ristorante. I ate at both restaurants this trip, and they didn’t disappoint. Another option is Tom Douglas’ Serious Pie, a pizza restaurant that prides themselves on blister crust and meticulous attention to detail.
The Bald Thoughts
Staying at the Westin Seattle costs 12,000 Starpoints per night. This can be a great value when considering rooms can run north of $400 per night! They have many different room options, and you can book upgraded rooms for a few thousand more Starpoints.
The Westin Seattle is a quiet, clean, amenity-rich hotel with an awesome location near the sites and attractions in Seattle. The Sheraton Seattle is another great Starwood option in Seattle, it just wasn’t as proximate to the sights I wanted to experience.
Next time you’re in Seattle give the Westin Seattle a try, you definitely won’t be disappointed.

I think that most people in the miles and points world understand that benefits and stay credits are not a given when booking with a 3rd party vendor. Quick question – How did you get from the SEA airport to the Westin downtown? Did you take a shuttle/bus and if so, which one?

I’m not sure how Tyler got into town. He probably has a bunch of Uber/Lyft codes to use! 🙂 Whenever I go to Seattle I take the light rail. Goes direct from the airport into the heart of the city. It’s cheap too at around $3-$6 a person (at least it was the last time I was there) and is really quick and efficient. Most everything is within a short walk of the light rail. Just call your hotel ahead of time and ask them which stop to get off at.

As mentioned at the beginning of the post I utilized the free Uber/American Express promotion for a ride into Seattle from Sea/Tac airport! As Lee mentioned the light rail is a fast and affordable option.
