The Morning Shave
Tulum and Cancun avoid lockdown — for now. – Mexico is one of our favorite getaway destinations, and it is heartbreaking how some of its cities are being devastated by COVID. There was a warning that an “imminent” lockdown was about to happen in these cities. Luckily, the lockdown was avoided, but this is a reminder that we need to be safe when traveling. Wear your mask, stay distant whenever possible, be tested, and get your vaccination.
New Southwest Bank Bonus That Counts Towards The Companion Pass (Targeted). – Over the years, it has become harder and harder to “earn” the Southwest Companion Pass without spending a bunch on your card, getting a new one, or flying a lot. Although this Chase bank account offer is targeted, it is a great way to get closer to earning the Companion Pass.
New York City Is Getting a New Floating Pool in the East River. – I’m sure many New Yorkers aren’t happy with this new attraction, but it is pretty cool. There’s no timetable (yet) about when this pool will be open to visitors, but they better hurry up if they want to attract people for this summer.

It’s awesome that they have rules and protocols to ensure that women feel safe. Yet, it is so sad that many women don’t feel safe in normal, everyday life. I want my daughter to feel safe traveling the world and the U.S. as she grows up. There are so many amazing destinations to explore, and I don’t want her to miss out because she might be unsafe.
Hotel fees hit a new level of absurdity with a “utility surcharge” at one property in Las Vegas. – Hotel operators are insane with the ways that they nickel and dime hotel guests. While travel is coming back, most hotels still are way under capacity. Travelers need to avoid hotels like this to let them know that we don’t approve of these hidden fees.
