The Morning Shave

The Best Train Trips to Take Across America. – Many people are turning to trains and road trips as an alternative to air travel during COVID. These trips offer incredible scenery and reinforce the mindset that it’s all about the journey vs. just the destination. My family took the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from Los Angeles to Portland a few years ago and it was stunning.

Free Flight Change Policies by Airlines. – Thinking about booking a flight for later this year, but unsure of whether it will be safe enough to travel? Book your reservation with an airline that allows free changes or cancelation. It will give you peace of mind and save you money in case you change your mind. Worst case, pick Southwest. They have one of the most lenient change & cancelation policies of any airline.

How Credit Cards & Loyalty Programs Lure You Into Spending More. – This is absolutely true. Banks make money every time you swipe your debit or credit card, and then they make even more if you can’t pay your balance in full each month. Be mindful of your purchases and only use your credit card if you can pay the balance in full to avoid interest.

Country-by-country guide to where you can go if you’re vaccinated. – If you’re one of the lucky few who has been vaccinated so far (or will be in the near future), some countries are starting to allow travelers who can prove that they’ve been vaccinated. TPG created this list of travel options when you’re ready to travel.

American and United Warn Re-Hired Employees of More Furloughs. – It’s a tough situation for airlines and their employees. They’ve used government aid to keep people employed during reduced demand, but when that money runs out and “normal” travel levels resume, how can they afford to keep them all? Until enough people get vaccinated where it is safer to travel, this will keep being an issue.
