The Morning Shave
How Early Should I Get to the Airport? – My family has Global Entry & TSA PreCheck and we never check bags, so arriving about an hour before is usually just fine. However, when we flew to Cabo last weekend, the airport terminal was a nightmare. Hundreds of people were in line to check-in, check bags, and speak with desk agents. The lines were all mixed together so people had a hard time knowing which line they were in. The kiosks were buried in the sea of people, and I had to fight through them to get to a self-check-in kiosk. I highly recommend getting to the airport earlier than usual because it can be nuts right now as more people return to flying.
Hotel Cancels Award Stay Because They Found Someone Better To Rent Rooms To. – Hilton has cast aside its “loyal” Hilton Honors members by canceling all of their reservations at a Hawaiian hotel property. And now the Hyatt Alila Ventana Big Sur is doing the same so that they could sell out the entire hotel to one customer. What good is “loyalty” to a program when hotel owners can do this to you?
A Vacation Rental Scam Cost This Traveler $20K – Here’s the Red Flag She Missed. – There should be a special place in hell for scammers like this. I’ve been hesitant to use vacation rentals for fear of scams and misrepresentations… plus, I like earning and redeeming miles and points when I travel. From looking through sites like Airbnb, there are some amazing properties. If you’re going to book a vacation home, use a site like Airbnb or VRBO or a boutique rental agency that offers protections for your money.
10 Free Things You Can Get at Airports. – I love free stuff, and I love traveling, so this article spoke to me. Some of the items on the list are basic (e.g. water bottle refills and fragile stickers), while others are good reminders (e.g. exercise and tours). Get familiar with the airports that you’re traveling to and see what they have available if you have a long layover or if you plan on getting to the airport early.
Delta Status Challenge: Why This Is The Perfect Time To Request One. – This is an excellent opportunity to earn Delta elite status through January 2023. Based on all of the multipliers that are available, you should be able to hit these levels fairly easily if you have a couple of Delta flights coming up. Be aware, however, that this only factors in when flying on Delta metal (aka planes)… but does not count when flying Skyteam partners and crediting to Delta.
