Airport lounges are an airline’s status symbol. They encourage loyalty with members and awe from those wanting in. The problem is that airports have a limited footprint, so adding new lounges is tough to do. As Austin continues to grow in popularity, airlines are taking notice. That is why the Delta Sky Club Austin location just opened up.

How can you enter the Delta Sky Club?

Travelers can enter the Delta Sky Club Austin (and all others) in one of five ways:

  • Become a Delta Sky Club member (rates start at $545 or 54,500 miles per year)
  • Delta One or Sky Team Premium Cabin passenger
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus on domestic Delta One or international itinerary
  • Have the Delta Reserve credit card from American Express
  • American Express Platinum and Centurion Cardholders

In all situations, you must be flying on a Delta-operated flight or with one of its partners. If you’re interested in gaining access to the Delta Airlines Sky Club lounges through a credit card, check out the latest offers in our credit card marketplace.

How much does the Delta Sky Club cost?

Delta used to sell one-day passes to the Delta Sky Club for $59 or 5,000 Sky Miles. However, that option was discontinued effective November 15, 2018.

The only way to enter now is by buying a qualifying ticket, attaining elite status, or having the right credit card. Each of those comes with their own cost.

Delta Sky Club Austin opened May 21st

There are over 50 Delta Sky Club locations and the Delta Sky Club Austin is the latest addition. The club is on the mezzanine level of the Barbara Jordan Terminal and offers over 9,000 square feet for travelers to stretch out and relax ahead of their flight.

The airport lounge is situated within Austin airport’s newly expanded concourse. Passengers will love that the Delta Sky Club Austin is conveniently located near the Delta gates.

Amenities at the Delta Sky Club Austin

There are so many amenities at the Delta Sky Club Austin that passengers may be too busy enjoying to make their flight.

Full-service bar with seasonal cocktails and wine

Travelers will enjoy the full-service bar for a pre-flight beverage. Seasonal cocktails will be served throughout the year, so your options will change depending upon when you visit the lounge. Delta’s Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson selected the wines which are stored in a temperature-controlled custom glass tower.

This airport lounge also offers the Agave Experience on the premium bar menu. With this selection, you’ll have your choice from an extensive selection of tequila and mezcal that can be sampled in individual pours or in tasting flights.

Local craft beers

Domestic beers are good to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. But local craft brews often have a more robust flavor and variety. The Delta Sky Club Austin offers local beers from the state of Texas. You can order local favorites like  Thirsty Planet Thirsty GoatHi Sign Violet, the Blueberry Blonde, and Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower. Others will rotate through the menu on a seasonal basis.

Unique, eclectic interior styling

The designers wanted travelers to get a feel of Austin’s unique culture during their stay. There are warm walnut surfaces, metal finished, and rich fabrics. Additionally, they selected artwork from well-known and up-and-coming artists with connections to Texas.

Comfortable seating areas with WiFi and power outlets

As you would expect, this airport lounge is full of comfortable seating throughout the airport lounge. Guests will enjoy high-speed WiFi at no charge. And there are power outlets at nearly every seat to power your laptop and charge your devices.

Outdoor covered Sky Deck

The best part of the Delta Sky Club Austin airport lounge is the outdoor covered Sky Deck. While traveling we’re cooped up and forced to breathe recycled air for hours on end. It is a nice option to be able to step into the fresh air and soak up a little sun in between flights.

Due to the Austin weather and the covered patio, travelers can enjoy the outdoors all year long.

The Bald Thoughts

If you’re traveling through Austin, you should consider booking your flight with Delta so you can access this new airport lounge. The Delta Sky Club Austin looks amazing and I can’t wait to check out the craft brews and the Sky Deck. I don’t have the Delta Reserve credit card right now, but I do have the American Express Platinum so I’ll be able to enter the lounge for free.
