Apple’s TSA-approved digital ID is now live in 5 states, coming soon to many more.

If you’ve ever gone to the airport and realized (in horror!) that you forgot your wallet at home, Apple’s new digital ID app may be your lifeline. Digital IDs were added to the iPhone Wallet app in 2022, but it has taken time to get widespread adoption by the TSA. With Ohio rolling out this technology on July 31st, there are now five states where digital IDs are accepted. And a nationwide rollout is just around the corner. Even better, you can actually add your ID to your Apple Watch as well. Would you feel comfortable using this technology?

DOJ extends review period for Alaska-Hawaiian merger.

With so much news in the travel world, it is easy to forget that this merger is “waiting in the wings.” The review period was supposed to expire today, but the DoJ just added 10 more days to the deadline. Hyatt Hotels Plans Expansion into Belize.

World of Hyatt members will soon have another amazing resort to earn and redeem Hyatt points. With the addition of The Placencia Resort in Belize, Hyatt has added another country to its footprint. The property is undergoing a $10 million renovation, which should be completed by late 2025. When the reno is complete, the property will have 90 upgraded guest rooms, suites, and beachfront villas and be rebranded under the Destination by Hyatt umbrella.

CrowdStrike says it’s not to blame for Delta’s days-long outage.

When CrowdStrike went down, numerous websites went down across all industries. While most companies were able to recover quickly, Delta had lingering problems that lasted for days. Delays and cancellations stranded travelers and cost the airline more than $500 million. While the airline pointed fingers at CrowdStrike, new information is coming out that the airline (allegedly) refused on-site assistance from the tech provider that could have helped. It will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds.
