Example flight from California to Fiji using Alaska miles

I found a ton of Economy award space available from both Los Angeles and San Francisco to Fiji. In this example, you would pay 40,000 Alaska Airlines mile and $154 in taxes and fees. I’m not sure I’d want to fly that far in Economy, but it is a great deal.

The “Partner Business” results shown below is actually a mixed cabin of First Class on Alaska between airports in the U.S., then Economy on Fiji Airways. Search around or call Alaska Airlines customer service, and I’m sure you’ll find some Business/First Class availability.

  1. Why are you posting this 4 days before the deal ends? This has been discussed ad nauseum for weeks and all the premium seats have been snapped up long time ago. You can still get a few coach seats…

You are superlate to the party and it does not enhance your brand or blog.

    • Thanks for reading, Deltahater. I happened to see the promotion while researching an article, so I wanted to write and share the opportunity with my readers. I don’t let what others have written stop me from writing about it myself. And, as long as a deal is still active, it can benefit a portion of the audience.

There are still plenty of Economy seats available, so people looking to snag a great deal to the South Pacific should jump on it before the promotion ends.

    • In the past, I’ve flown as far as Sydney and Stockholm in Economy from Los Angeles and was fine. However, as I’ve gotten older (almost 45), flying long distances in Economy has less appeal because it is harder for me to sleep sitting up. I would do it if it was a great deal or the only way to get my family there, but my preference is Business Class.

I agree that 160k Alaska miles for an amazing family vacation is hard to beat. Are you thinking of booking the deal?

  2. Is Alaska’s “mixed cabin” search results literally the worst thing ever? Literally?

I’m not saying yes, but I’m not saying no
