The Morning Shave

Dynamic pricing coming for tourist attractions as ugly trend spreads through travel industry.

Businesses are always looking to squeeze every last dollar from customers, and the travel industry is no different. We’ve seen dynamic pricing on award redemptions for flights and hotels, and now attractions are doing the same. With dynamic pricing, attractions charge higher rates during peak travel periods (think summer and holidays), then lower prices when business is slow. To counteract this, book travel during the “shoulder season” or buy attraction discount passes, such as the Get Out Pass, that include multiple attractions for one low price.

The 5 Items TSA Agents Always Check.

If you’re planning to travel soon, remember that TSA checkpoints are still pretty invasive, even if you have TSA PreCheck (how to get TSA PreCheck for free). By now, we all know that you can’t bring guns, knives, or big jugs of liquid through security. However, some innocuous items get checked more frequently than others. A few of them include books, spices, medications, breast milk, wrapped gifts, and unpackaged food. Keep this in mind when deciding which items to put in your checked luggage versus your carry-on (or just leave them at home).

Marriott plans to significantly expand footprint in Mexico.

Get ready for more than 70 new Marriott hotels and resorts opening in Mexico, adding over 11,000 rooms over the next few years. In 2026 alone, there will be 10 new properties available to earn and redeem points at, including the St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancun; the Autograph Collection’s Boca Alameda Mexico City; Casa Nizuc, a Tribute Portfolio Resort in Cancun; and Saltillo, Autograph Collection in Coahuila. Plus, Marriott will convert two of its existing properties in Mexico to all-inclusive operations, including the Marriott Puerto Vallarta in 2027 and the W Costa Mujeres in 2029.

For a Caribbean Beach Vacation Without a Hurricane Risk, Head to the ABC Islands.

Initial reports indicate that this year’s hurricane season will be much worse than the last few years. With that in mind, if you still want a Caribbean vacation, venture a little further south to the ABC Islands – Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. Since they are close to South America, they tend to avoid most of the hurricanes that flow through the Gulf of Mexico. Despite their location, they still offer all of the amazing beauty, soft sand, and warm water that you’d ever want from a beach vacation.

IATA chief explains why a jet fuel shortage won’t happen.

With all of the talk about rising fuel costs and the war with Iran, travelers are concerned that jet fuel shortages will affect their travel plans. Fortunately, other jet fuel producers are ramping up production to offset reduced supply from the Middle East. But the IATA says fuel prices will remain elevated through the end of the year, even if the war in Iran ends this summer. So, expect airline ticket prices to increase in the foreseeable future as airlines pass these costs on to passengers.
