Free hotel breakfast is good, but free drinks are even better. When booking hotels, I always factor in the “freebies” I’ll receive into the total cost of the reservation. If two comparable hotels have similar prices, but one has a free breakfast and hosts a complimentary happy hour, I will book that one every time! The U.K. Government Moves to Raise ETA Visa Price by 60%.
Well, that was quick. Less than two weeks after launching its ETA Visa program, the U.K. government is already trying to increase the cost to travelers. If the proposal is approved, U.S. travelers must pay £16 (about $19.50 USD) when applying, up from £10 (just over $12 USD). It’s not a huge sum of money, but when you’re traveling as a family, these costs really add up.

Atlantis resort coming to Hawaii after $216M land deal.
Caribbean travelers have enjoyed visiting Atlantis for years in the Bahamas. With this latest deal, California investors bought two oceanfront parcels next to Disney’s Aulani Resort in Oahu. The project is expected to take about five years to build, and it will have 500 rooms and 500 condos.
Higher airfares expected in the first half of 2025.
Domestic travelers are looking at higher airfares for the first half of this year. December 2024 ticket prices were up 7.9% year-over-year and January 2025 tickets are forecasted to be up 12% from January 2024. Hopper is also projecting flight prices will be up 19% in May vs. the year prior. When cash prices increase like this, it is a good idea to use airline miles to reduce your travel costs.
