We travel a lot as a family, and we love it when new resort options become available to us. Worldmark by Wyndham recently opened two new resorts in Mexico – Isla Mujeras near Cancun and Zihuatanejo on the Pacific Coast. These resorts are open for reservations beginning August 28, 2015.

Worldmark by Wyndham Isla Mujeras
Our family has never been to Cancun, and we considered going there for my 40th after our reservations in Cabo were delayed a second time due to reconstruction from Hurricane Odile. Ultimately we chose to go to St Maarten instead with a group of friends.
But, when I saw that Worldmark Isla Mujeras was opening in late August, I knew I wanted to book a trip there with my wife and our two children to be one of the first people to stay there!
Here is the description of the resort from Worldmark’s website:
WorldMark Isla Mujeres is located on the small, yet lively, island of Isla Mujeres, just off Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. While a short ferry ride will take you straight to the mainland, there is plenty to do right on the island, including kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, fishing and dining. On site, the resort will feature an activities center, outdoor swimming pool, a business center and pool bar. Accommodations at WorldMark Isla Mujeres will consist of studio hotel rooms as well as one-bedroom units.
Worldmark Zihuatanejo
This property seems very attractive and could be a special getaway just for me and the Mrs. We normally have flown Southwest Airlines to Cabo and Cancun, but they don’t fly to Ixtapa, so we’ll have to explore using our other airline miles to get here. It certainly looks like a fun way to explore a side of Mexico we have yet to experience.
Here is the description from the Worldmark site:
WorldMark Zihuatanejo is located in a historic fishing town situated along the Pacific Coast in Mexico’s gorgeous Costa Grande area. Nearby activities include the beach, dining, golfing, hiking and a wide range of water activities. Some of the many amenities the resort will feature include an outdoor swimming pool, business center, restaurant and bar. WorldMark Zihuatanejo will consist of hotel and studio hotel rooms as well as studio, one-bedroom penthouse and one-bedroom Presidential units.
Conclusion
Do you own a timeshare? Have you ever considered owning one? Our family enjoys the full kitchen and spacious rooms compared to spending money eating out all the time and cramped hotel rooms.
Would you consider going to either location? Or have you been to Isla Mujeras or Zihuatanejo?
