How to earn Marriott Rewards points
There are many ways you can earn Marriott points. First, and most obvious, is by staying at one of Marriott’s hotel brands (such as Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Courtyard, and Residence Inn). Second, you can earn rewards with Marriott’s partners, like renting a car at Hertz. The way I like to earn Marriott points is to spend on my Chase Marriott credit card. Right now, they’re offering 80,000 points on both the person and business versions!
If you’re looking to apply for the Marriott card, please use my referral link below. I have BOTH the personal and business versions and love the annual free night I get from each card.
Rewards Credit Cards
- Earn rewards with your everyday spend, and get a little closer to your next vacation.
- Use rewards to book hotels, air travel, gift cards, or to cover travel expenses like Uber.
- Loyalty pays off — earn double rewards when you use your card to book a trip with your favorite hotel or airline.
- Enjoy additional travel perks like travel insurance, waived foreign transaction fees, and airport lounge access.
- Terms vary by partner offer. Please see each bank’s application for terms and conditions.
Redeeming Marriott Rewards points for experiences
At the Marriott Experiences Marketplace, you can bid on a wide variety of experiences at their dedicated website. Here are some of the current opportunities to bid on:
Culinary Experiences
There are 7 Culinary Experiences to bid on focused on mixing drinks or cooking with private chefs, with current bids ranging from 25,000 to 107,500 points.
Lifestyle Experiences
There are 12 Lifestyle Experiences to bid on with choices such as a Mediterranean or Caribbean cruise, Hertz dream car rentals, or the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade package, with current bids ranging from 25,000 to 310,000 points.
Sports Experiences
There are 9 Sports Experiences to bid on such as sailing on the America’s Cup yacht, a Breeder’s Cup package, playing golf at Pebble Beach, or an evening with Peyton Manning, with current bids ranging from 50,000 to 350,000 points.
Entertainment Experiences
There are 16 Entertainment Experiences to bid on with a wide variety, such as tickets to Hamilton on Broadway, early screenings of “Sully”, and concert tickets for Brian Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, or Demi Lovato, with current bids ranging from 2,500 to 200,000 points.
The Bottom Line
There are some really fun experiences to bid on with Marriott Rewards points. I used up most of my Marriott points to redeem for their Flights & Hotels packages when we stayed in Puerto Rico for my 40th, so I don’t have many points to bid on anything. If I did have enough points, I would most likely bid to see Hamilton, meet Peyton Manning, or golf at Pebble Beach.
What would you bid on? Will you be bidding on any of these experiences?
