For those of you familiar with the Windy City, there are so many attractions! Wrigley Field, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Shedd Aquarium, Magnificent Mile, and many more can easily fill a week full of adventures. The inner thrill seeker in me had to visit the famous SkyDeck Chicago on a busy Memorial Day weekend. The team at SkyDeck was kind enough to throw us a couple complimentary passes to come check it out.

How to get to the SkyDeck Chicago
The SkyDeck Chicago is located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower at 233 S Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606. The Willis Tower is formerly known as the Sears Tower.
Navigating such a busy city like Chicago can be quite stressful. My travel buddy and I rented a car, and we didn’t want to double our costs by having that and taking a Lyft or Uber get around the city. However, there is a decent amount of parking downtown, so I highly recommend using SpotHero!
SpotHero is an app where you can reserve a spot ahead of time, and pay using a credit card. It also tells you the price of varying spots in the area so you can find what works best for you.

Entering SkyDeck Chicago
Once you find parking around the SkyDeck, walk over and you will be escorted into a line to be taken downstairs to purchase your tickets. You can also purchase your tickets online, which I would highly recommend, especially traveling on a holiday weekend like we did.
You will go through metal detectors, so be sure to not bring anything other than water and cameras!
On a holiday weekend, the lines were pretty long. For this, I would highly recommend paying extra for the Fast Pass. However, if you are visiting during the week, the regular pass should be just fine!

The top floor of SkyDeck Chicago
After you reach the top, the views are pretty incredible from the 103rd floor. On a clear day, you can actually see 4 different states!
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The Bald Thoughts
The SkyDeck Chicago is a must see when you visit “the Windy City!” My favorite experience was stepping out onto the glass enclosure hovering above the city below. When planning your trip, you should plan around holiday weekends to avoid the long lines. If you have to go during that time, then splurge for the Fast Pass to save yourself some time.
Have you been to SkyDeck Chicago? What’s your favorite thing to do in Chicago? Which Chicago pizza is your favorite – Pizzeria Uno, Lou Malnati’s, or Giordano’s? Let us know in the comment section below.
A disadvantage of purchasing a ticket to the SkyDeck in advance is the possibility that the weather won’t cooperate that day. I’ve looked out at fog from there.
You make a good point. Weather in Chicago is unpredictable. Still, I think the best option is to buy the tickets on your phone or computer before you head to the SkyDeck instead of waiting in line.
