Global hotel cancellations rise ahead of holidays due to Omicron. – Are you reconsidering your Christmas or New Years’ travel plans due to the latest coronavirus variant? We always stay home for the holidays since our kids are young and to avoid the packed airports, but I know many of you normally travel to see family & friends or to head someplace warm to thaw out.

Virgin Australia Drops Delta, Signs Codeshare Pact With United. – It seems that Virgin Australia has found a new dance partner. The airline paused its partnership with Delta in 2020 after Virgin dropped its LAX to SYD route during the pandemic. With the United partnership, there will be more than 3x the number of U.S. destinations available for Virgin customers. And United customers gain access to new cities in Adelaide (ADL), Brisbane (BNE), and Perth (PER).

With Cuba tourism reopening, airlines ramp up service. – Keep in mind that there are still restrictions on Americans traveling to Cuba. However, it seems that interest in Cuba travel is picking up and domestic airlines are increasing service to the island. Vaccinated travelers can enter Cuba without needing to quarantine.

White House calls for online passport renewals. – Getting a passport or renewing one is such a pain. There are so many hurdles to overcome, it’s no wonder that about half of Americans don’t own a passport. I’d love it if President Biden’s executive order makes it so that we can all renew our passports online to eliminate the hassle and reduce the turnaround time.
