What is Kimpton Karma Inner Circle status?
Kimpton rewards its guests through the Kimpton Karma loyalty rewards program.
The first level is Tier 1, which comes with some awesome benefits starting with your first stay, such as:
- Free Wi-fi
- $10 Raid the Minibar credit
- Birthday offer
Many hotels charge for Wi-fi and nobody gives you $10 towards grabbing whatever you want from your room’s minibar!
The highest level of loyalty with Kimpton is “Inner Circle,” which you earn after 14 different stays or 40 nights. I’m ok with “bed hopping” so I bounce between different Kimpton properties in the same city each night to earn my status level faster.
With Inner Circle status, you get some pretty amazing benefits, such as:
- Complimentary upgrade
- Late check-out priority
- Complimentary Chef’s Taste (something special when dining on-site)
- $50 restaurant credit during comp night
- Access to the CEO
And my personal favorite — one free night whenever Kimpton opens a new property!!!
We stayed at the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Shorebreak Hotel in late May 2015, when the property first opened. We really enjoyed ourselves and were treated very well.
Our room was upgraded to a Junior Suite, with a small divider wall between the bed area and a couch and small table. We enjoyed a view of the beach and ocean from our small patio. And the Shorebreak left us a nice welcome amenity with beers and snacks, plus some fun gifts for the kids.
Outside of our room, there was big courtyard area for guests to relax and have fun. We played chess with pieces that were almost as big as my 4 year old son. And there was a fire pit and free Smores kits so you can make your own deliciously gooey Smores to eat.
Unfortunately, there was no pool or hot tub at this property. However, the beach was just across the street, so you can easily walk to the sand and water. The road outside the Shorebreak Hotel is Pacific Coast Highway, which can get pretty busy, especially during the summer, but one street away is a major stoplight; that is where you would cross the street to reach the beach, ocean, and Huntington Beach pier.
The Shorebreak is also one street over the the hustle and bustle of Main Street in Huntington Beach, which is where a lot of the locals and tourist action is. There are plenty of surf shops for souvenirs or rentals, or you can enjoy the many restaurants and bars that get packed on the weekends.
If you want to try surfing or would like to ride a bike along the beach, check with the Shorebreak Hotel’s front desk, as they have plenty of loaners available. I know that Kimpton offers the bikes for free and encourages guests to use them, but I’m unsure whether or not there’s a fee for the surfboards.
As usual, there was a restaurant on site. We didn’t get a chance to try it this time, but we’re looking forward to enjoying our Inner Circle benefits of a $50 dining credit and the Chef’s Taste when we visit for our complimentary night in a few weeks.
Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel Free Nights
Kimpton has opened up reservations for Inner Circle members to book a complimentary (aka FREE!!!) night at their new property in Huntington Beach, California. Availability for reservations is limited, so call the Kimpton Inner Circle VIP Line at 866-424-7667 to book your reservation ASAP! They are currently accepting complimentary reservations through March 1, 2016.
I’ve already booked my reservation. Given the popularity of the Huntington Beach location, it’s pretty difficult to secure a free weekend night. We ended up getting a Thursday night free night as an Inner Circle member, then added another free night earned through recent stays at Kimpton properties (check out how I earned 3 free Kimpton nights after only 10 stays).
And, while staying at the Shorebreak for free, there is a $50 dining credit for the on-site restaurant called The Zimzala Restaurant & Bar. On top of getting $50 towards our meals, as an Inner Circle member, I’ll receive a complimentary “Chef’s Taste,” which is usually a tasty appetizer or dessert made special by the chef.

Generally, the free night booking period opens about 3-6 months after a new hotel opens.
