This roundup of miles and points activity is something I’ve been wanting to do. It will give the readers a little insight into the things we do every week to earn miles & points, book trips, and research what’s going on in the travel world. The goal is to publish this each week, and we’d love your feedback.
In the comments section, please share what you’ve done this week… earned some miles? booked a trip? or read some great articles that others should read?
Where We Traveled
Charlie flew to Taiwan for work and stayed at the Amba Taipei Ximending. For the sake of global relations, I’m not even going to try to pronounce that hotel’s name. He was back in California for a little more than 24 hours before he flew out to meet me in DC.
Charlie and I had a great time at BACON (BoardArea conference), which is a networking and strategy conference for the BoardingArea bloggers. This year, the conference was held in Washington, DC at the Marriott Marquis. The Marquis was very modern and fresh. Instead of staying at the host hotel, we took the opportunity to stay at the Kimpton Rouge, Kimpton Donovan, and Kimpton Glover Park.
Check out the latest reviews for the Kimpton Glover Park at TripAdvisor.
While in town, it was great to meet up with my friend Paul, who is almost ready to launch his site, IslandTraveler.
Miles and Points Earned
I recently finishing meeting the minimum spends on all of the cards I received during my August 2016 app party.
After my uncomfortable red-eye flight on American from California to Chicago for the Chicago Seminars, I complained and received 7,500 AAdvantage miles for my trouble.
Booking the Next Adventure
With so many free nights being offered by Kimpton for Inner Circle members, I booked free nights at the Kimpton Glover Park for our BACON trip and the Kimpton Journeyman in Milwaukee in January.
I combined a couple of free nights earned by staying at Kimpton with the Inner Circle free night to book an awesome trip for Timmy and me to the Cayman Islands to try out the new Kimpton Seafire. I redeemed 17,500 AAdvantage miles each for our one-way trip to the Cayman Islands. Still researching options for the return flight since there was no SAAver space available with American.

The Bald Thoughts
It’s been a bit of a rough week with a red-eye to DC, and a 2 1/2 hour delay coming home. Work has been slammed, and Anna has been working long hours for her company’s annual enrollment process. On the bright side, we have some awesome vacations coming up where we’ll get to spend some uninterrupted time together as a family.
Have a great weekend!
