In my opinion, Kimpton offers the best benefits of any hotel loyalty program. The unique benefit they offer is being able to stay a night for free whenever a new property opens. Today, we’ll talk about the free night being offered at The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel
The Cardinal Hotel is located in the historic R.J. Reynolds building, that was once the “architectural muse for the Empire State Building.” The building is in the middle of Winston-Salem’s downtown district and is at 51 East 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
There are 176 guest rooms and 36 suites that “combine elegance and spunk,” according to Kimpton’s website. There are 3 Queen and 4 King configurations, plus the Presidential Suite, available to book. A brief look at the Cardinal’s website revealed room rates as low as $125 between now and New Year’s, before any discounts like the 10% offered for AAA members.

The Katharine Brasserie & Bar
When you stay during the new hotel free night promotion, the on-site restaurant provides a $50 dining credit. This perk puts the whole experience over the top. Inner Circle members also receive a Chef’s Taste whenever they stay with Kimpton and eat at the hotel’s restaurant. In the past, we’ve received some delicious appetizers like Ahi Poke at Zimzala or a plate of Sushi at Brandon’s.
How to stay at The Kimpton Cardinal for free
All Kimpton Inner Circle members are offered a window of time, shortly after a new hotel opens, in which they can stay at the new property for free. I’ve used this benefit numerous times, including The Goodland near Santa Barbara, The Palladian in Seattle, The Shorebreak in Huntington Beach, and Hotel Tomo in San Francisco. We just got back from using this benefit at The Kimpton Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa, where we had a great experience over Labor Day Weekend.
The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel free night benefit is available through October 31, 2016. Our schedule is pretty booked up through the end of the year, especially with Timmy starting his 2nd season of soccer, so I’m not sure if we’ll be able to take advantage of this offer.

I became an Inner Circle member through a status match as a Hilton Diamond. With a status match, you need to stay a specific number of nights before you are eligible for the new hotel free night benefit.
From what I understand, Kimpton is no longer offering status matches effective January 1, 2016, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

It is fun to explore new properties and be one of the first to enjoy them. I love that Kimpton rewards its best customers with such great benefits.
