On my last night in New York City, I chose to stay at the Kimpton Ink48 in Midtown Manhattan in the Hell’s Kitchen district. The property was further away from the Manhattan hustle and bustle, but I offered an amazing view of the skyline from the rooftop bar, The Press Lounge.

Kimpton Ink48
The Ink48 is located at 653 11th Avenue at 48th, New York, NY 10036. The property overlooks the Hudson River, and it is a 15 minute walk to Times Square.
I reserved this hotel for $243 for my last night out of 4 nights in New York City for the Affiliate Summit East conference.
I used the discont code MYDEAL, which provided a discount of 15% off the Monday night rate of $286.
The Lobby
The lobby was fresh and alive. There was an attached bar and restaurant, and there was plenty of comfortable seating to relax and enjoy a conversation with friends.
I didn’t get a chance to take a ride, but they even offer loaner bikes if you want to brave riding a bike among all the cabbies.
And, as a dog owner, it is cool to see that they not only allow dogs, they welcome them.
Check-in
At check in, Justin was very warm and personable, and he did his best to get me upgraded into an amazing room. Unfortunately, the best room at Ink48 wasn’t available, but he did manage to upgrade me to a city view room on a high floor that was very nice.
Again, I checked in during the morning, and Kimpton made sure that my room was ready so I didn’t have to wait until the normal 4pm check-in of most hotels.
The room
Here is a 15 second video of my room.
The Ink48 bathroom also provided a separate shower and tub to indulge in. The shower had an awesome raindrop shower head that I want for my home! The bathroom amenities were the standard C O Bigelow brand, which were the same at Eventi and 70 Park.
Down a short hallway, the bedroom awaited. It was smaller than the rooms I was upgraded to at Eventi and The Muse, but still large by New York standards.
There was a great city view from my room that was great to take in from the window couch. If only my balcony at Eventi on Friday night had this view, now that would be amazing!
The Welcome Amenity
Aleyde, the rooms coordinator, provided a great welcome amenity of two local beers called Brooklyn Lager, some Pringles, and Reese’s. I have simple tastes…. trying local brews, having some chips to munch on, and a couple of Reese’s to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Raid the Mini Bar
In true Kimpton style, on top of the awesome welcome amenity that they provided, I was also able to “raid the mini bar” for up to $15 in goodies. I had an early flight the next morning, so I got a Red Bull, Cliff MOJO Bar, and one of their cool flask-shaped water bottles (the one that says “FRED” in the picture below).
The Gym
After chowing down on my goodies, I needed a good place to burn some calories. The gym at Ink48 provided exactly what I needed. There were some free weights, a few machines, and lots of space to stretch out in.
Evening Wine Hour
After sampling the delicious wines the day before, I knew I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss out at the Ink48 wine hour from 5pm to 6pm. I had the Merlot again. Unfortunately, the rooftop bar is run under a different liquor license, so I couldn’t bring my glass up to enjoy the view.
The Rooftop Bar, The Press Lounge
After I finished my wine, I knew I wanted to take in the view before I headed out to my conference evening events.
Nobody was inside the bar because the views outside were so beautiful, so I went outside to enjoy myself. I started working on my laptop when I engaged some gentlemen in conversation about their pending business venture. We enjoyed a few drinks while taking in the view.
Would I change anything?
The only problem I had with this hotel was that my hotel room door would not close all the way, unless I pushed it close myself.
Here is a quick video of the door not closing properly… and why you ALWAYS need to be sure that your hotel room door does close when you leave. Remember, even in nice hotels, criminals are looking for the right opportunity to make some easy money.

Conclusion
The Kimpton Ink48 was a great experience that started with the front desk person Justin, who greeted me by name every time I walked by, to Aleyde, who picked out a great local beer for my welcome amenity, to the amazing views of the New York City skyline.
