The Morning Shave

How Airbus became Boeing’s greatest rival. – These airlines continue to dominate the airplane market. It is great that they have economies of scale, but it also diminishes competition and choice, which is bad for consumers.

Don’t Be A Jerk! Why I Have Decided To Cancel Months Worth of Travel. – We all love to travel, but we have to do our part. Coronavirus Travel Policies & Advisories. – If you have flight and hotel reservations outstanding, these travel policies and advisories can help you navigate the process of canceling those plans. I’ve had to cancel several flights and hotel reservations for family trips and conferences (that were also canceled).

Seeking Coronavirus Relief: What Hotel Execs Told the President. – The travel industry is lobbying to get bailouts from the federal government. If we bail them out, I hope that the government gets stock or some other benefits in exchange for the money. I’m tired of us privatizing rewards and socializing risk. The airlines collectively spent 96% of free cash flow over the last few years buying back their shares instead of saving the money for emergencies like this. Those execs and boards should be fired.

Southwest’s extends Travel Funds due to Coronavirus, and it is quite generous. – Even though Southwest doesn’t have First Class or aspirational awards, they are my favorite airline. The airline does have its faults, but policies like this show that they care about their customers and have a consumer-friendly attitude.
