The Morning Shave

Why More Hotels Are Owned by Franchisees. – You’ve probably noticed this trend too. More and more of the hotels that I visit are owned by franchisees instead of the hotel chain. It means that hotels can expand into new markets without the required money of owning it themselves. But, it also means that these hotels are not as loyal and don’t always follow the hotel’s rules on upgrades, amenities, and other goodies we’ve come to expect as part of our elite status.

Here’s How to Watch the ‘Super Snow Moon’ Rise This Weekend. – Science is amazing. Set your alarm for sunset (aka moonrise) on Saturday for the best views. Hopefully, the sky in your area doesn’t have any clouds to obstruct your view.

Coronavirus: Cathay Pacific asks staff to take unpaid leave. – The coronavirus is hitting us all in different ways. The doctor who first discovered the virus died. I feel for all of those who have died or who are gravely ill. And it’s tough financially for the staff who are missing paychecks during this crisis. Hopefully, they have an emergency fund to cover their bills.

Why I Love Taking Teeny, Tiny, 24-hour Vacations. – Is it even worth it to take a 24-hour vacation? If you have to fly to get there, it probably doesn’t make sense, unless it is for a special event (e.g. game, concert, show). However, when you can tack on an extra day on a business trip, it makes complete sense. Taking a “workation” or a “bleisure” trip is an excellent way to have a little fun in a city for very little money since work is already paying for the flight to get there.

A kayaker vanished last month in the Florida Everglades. Days later, his phone washed ashore with clues. – Always keep your phone with you, you never know when it could save your life. This guy was on the verge of death when they found him.
