Why you don’t earn hotel points when booking through an OTA. – It all boils down to money. The OTAs earn very little from airlines, so airlines can keep giving rewards to travelers, even when booking through OTAs. However, hotels pay up to 25% commission to OTAs, so there’s not enough profit to also cover loyalty program perks.
Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop announces big US expansion. – Even if you don’t fly ULCCs like Spirit, Frontier, or Swoop, they help to keep prices down for all of us. With the recent merger news of Spirit and Frontier, the expansion of Swoop into the U.S. is excellent news.
