The Morning Shave

Spirit rejects JetBlue’s offer, saying it wants less lucrative deal with Frontier. – This saga isn’t over yet. JetBlue released an updated offer with a point-by-point rebuttal stating how its all-cash offer is better for shareholders than Frontier’s stock-based offer. It will be interesting to see how this ends.

9 ways that TPG’s staff members are beating expensive summer airfare. – Summer travel is around the corner and it seems like prices are trending much higher. I totally agree with most of these tips. Especially the tip about Southwest Airlines. If you see a flight that meets your budget, book it immediately, then keep an eye on Southwest deals to lower the price later on. With their free rebooking & cancellation policies, you can easily redo your flight and save some cash (or points).

The Top 10 U.S. Airports With The Most Delays, Ranked. – As you plan your summer flights, you may want to avoid these airports that are notorious for delays. The delays can be a rough start to a fun weekend or cause you to miss your connecting flight to another city. If you have the option to consider another airport, you might want to book there, even if it costs a few dollars more.

Low-Cost Carrier Swoop Continues Massive Expansion. – I’m looking forward to trying out Swoop for the novelty of it. Although they may not become my preferred airline, I love when LCC airlines enter a market because it forces all other airlines serving that airport to be more competitive with their prices.

You Can Now Buy or Rent an Apartment Aboard a Cruise Ship. – I know that some readers absolutely love cruising, but would you consider living aboard a cruise ship? Well, it’s now possible to become a full-time resident of a cruise ship starting in 2024. We’ve all seen the stories about seniors living their best life on a cruise instead of living by themselves, but those were rentals. This is actually owning or renting a room, just like you’d do with a condo or apartment.

  1. As a customer, I’d be agreeable with any Spirit merger situation except where Spirit is controlled by Frontier. Frontier is the bottom of the barrel so losing Spirit while having Frontier grow just doesn’t seem like it would be good.

    • I hear you, Christian. I don’t fly Spirit or Frontier because of all the ticky-tack fees, but I like how they keep the big airlines in check. The JetBlue offer is way more attractive to shareholders since it’s 1) higher overall value and 2) tied to cash instead of Frontier stock (which has fallen since the deal was announced, making it an even smaller offer).
