Canada to Drop Travel Mask Mandate and Entry Restrictions on Oct. 1.

More and more destinations are dropping their COVID rules as the virus becomes endemic and people learn to live with the disease. While countries eliminate these rules, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take basic precautions while traveling. Wear a mask when possible, wash your hands thoroughly and regularly, and minimize crowded situations. Whether it’s COVID, the flu, or any other illness, getting sick while traveling sucks and could derail your vacation plans.

World of Hyatt members rejoice. There’s a new brand launching in 2025 with Hyatt’s partnership with a Japanese developer. The new hotel brand is named Atona, and it focuses on creating “a modernized hot spring ryokan experience.”

Hurricane Ian likely to affect travel for days as preparations intensify.

While we’ve had a mild start to hurricane season, the threat isn’t over yet. Multiple storms have started brewing in the last few days that could spell trouble. Take a look at your upcoming travel plans to see if you might be affected by these storms. Net-zero emissions by 2050? Airlines will probably fall short.

While I appreciate airlines trying to reduce their carbon footprint, getting to net-zero emissions will require technology that hasn’t been invented (or at least perfected) yet. Airplanes have a long lifespan, and many of the airlines rolling off assembly lines today will still be flying by 2050. It’s good to have these types of goals to work towards, but it helps to be realistic too.
