The Morning Shave

TSA is Changing Its Dog Strategy to Stop Scaring Children (Yes This is Real). – I never thought about it until now, but it makes sense that dogs with floppy ears are less scary than pointy-ear dogs. It is cool to know that dog handlers have baseball cards for their dogs that they can hand out to children.

TSA Names Boston’s Logan ‘Airport Of The Year’. – Ok, it’s good that Logan had the speediest security lanes. But shouldn’t the fact that they found a record number of firearms put Boston’s airport at the bottom of the list? Because that means that a record number (or close to it) of people also tried to bring guns into the airport!

I didn’t think the $1 billion hotel considered ‘the most luxurious in the world’ could possibly live up to the hype. I was very wrong. – Wow, this hotel is considered the world’s first 7-star hotel. From the pictures, I can see why. Every detail is completely over-the-top in luxury and detail.

Mexico and New York Are Top Holiday Destinations for U.S. Air Travelers. – Despite all of the negative press, Mexico is the number one Christmas and New Year’s season destination. Anna and I just flew to Cancun in early December and loved it.

The TSA’s New Body Scanners Will Speed Up Your Next Trip. – The new scans will take less than a second and you won’t have to raise your hands. Excellent news for most travelers. Even with these enhancements, I would still recommend getting TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or CLEAR (use my referral link for a free 2-month trial) to make it easier to go through airport security.

  1. Wonder who’s hawking the new grope & scope machines? Is that a real picture, meaning no need to divest of shoes, belts, etc., or a staged one that means nothing? Also, it appears that there is no way for the pax to keep an eye on his/her belongings while being scanned. Further, I question the ‘it only takes 1 second’ statement if the pax has to wait to be waved into it, assume this new pose, wait while the screener pushes a button for the scan to start, & then wait for someone viewing the scanner to give the all clear.

    • I think people without PreCheck will still have to take off their belts, shoes, jackets, etc. Although the machines are supposedly faster, I don’t think that eliminates the need to properly x-ray those items. All I know is that I’m keeping PreCheck and CLEAR so I’m not too concerned with whatever they’re doing with the regular line. PreCheck is so cheap ($17 per year), I don’t understand why anyone who flies more than once a year doesn’t apply for it.

      • Maybe because of the number of airports that still don’t have it? Or only have it during certain times? Or only do PC-lite?

        • Not sure. All I know is that PreCheck is the way to go. And those lines are starting to get long at times. That’s why I double-up and have CLEAR as well. Skip the lines and keep all of your clothes on!
