If you don’t have this card just get it. Seriously. It’s that good for $49. The Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card is the single best card for the annual fee paid. The annual fee is $49 and waived the first year; this card is easily worth that and more! Here’s why.

Chase IHG Rewards Sign-Up Bonus

  • Earn 60,000 Points After You Spend $1,000 in your first 3 Months
  • 5,000 Points After Your First Purchase and the Addition of an Authorized User in the First 3 Months

This is one card you should keep forever. Great ROI for the annual fee!

Keep in mind that this product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

While IHG points aren’t the most valuable points currency this signup bonus is worth over $300. However, the sign-up isn’t the best part of this card.

Chase IHG Rewards Earning Structure

  • 5 points per dollar at IHG  properties
  • 2 points per dollar spent at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants
  • 1 point per dollar on all other purchases

These earning rates are pretty standard for hotel rewards card, nothing special here.

Reasons Why The Chase IHG Rewards Card is Worth It

IHG Platinum Status

  • Free Internet
  • Priority Check-In
  • 50% Bonus Earnings on Top of Base Points
  • Elite Rollover Nights
  • Complimentary Room Upgrades
  • Guaranteed Room Availability
  • Extended Check-Out

Most of these benefits are standard among higher tier hotel award programs. Intercontinental Hotel Group has some pretty awesome upgrade opportunities….

10% Rebate on Point Redemptions (up to 100,000 Points per Year)

Pretty self-explanatory. With the Chase IHG Rewards card, you receive 10% back on award stays up to 100,000 points per year or 1,000,000 points spent. Points should be reinstated into your account within a few weeks.

Free Anniversary Night!

You can use the Free night benefits at any IHG property worldwide! You can get serious value out of the Chase IHG Rewards card when redeeming your free night at premium hotels. One example is the InterContinental Le Moana Resort Bora Bora where rates can run north of $1,000 per night! Some other great redemptions include InterContinental Hong Kong and InterContinental London Park Lane.

Who wouldn’t want to stay at hotels that can cost of $1,000 per night for just $49?!

Pro Tip: You only have to book the free night within the year, but you can book it out one year in advance. If you time your redemptions wisely, you can book two free nights back-to-back.

The Bald Thoughts

The IHG Rewards Club Select is a card you’ll want to keep year after year, $49 is a steal for the benefits mentioned above! The free night certificate is the number one reason I would suggest this card to EVERYONE!

With the free night certificate, 10% points back and complimentary IHG Platinum status, the IHG Rewards Select Club is one of the best hotel cards on the market. Not to mention you can take advantage of all of these benefits for the first year free with the annual fee being waived on new cards ;).

For IHG Rewards Club cardholders, what has been your favorite free night redemption? Which credit cards are you willing to pay the annual fee year-after-year?
