It has been seven months since Hurricane Odile destroyed most of the Los Cabos tourist region in Mexico. Worldmark Coral Baja is located on the Baja Peninusula a couple hours by plane south of California.
Although I’ve owned my timeshare with Worldmark by Wyndham for close to 20 years, I have not yet visited this resort, although I have heard many good things about it.
To be honest, only in the past few years have I considered traveling to Mexico because of the violence that you hear on the news. Anna and I took a trip to Cabo two years ago for a friends’ wedding… and we really enjoyed ourselves.
However, when we explored the Coral Baja’s pictures online, we were less than impressed with the dated decor.
But, taking a look at the Worldmark site today, the decor is updated and attractive. It will definitely be on our list of places to stay on our next visit to Cabo.
Update on construction at Coral Baja
Here is the update from the Worldmark website on the rebuild of Coral Baja:
On Sept. 14, 2014, Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula was hit by Hurricane Odile — severely impacting the WorldMark Coral Baja resort and the surrounding area. There was extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of the resort, requiring replacement of nearly all of the sheet rock as well as the electrical work. There was also significant damage to the exterior amenities, most notably the pool area and cabana, which required major refurbishment. These damages require extensive repair work to be done in many areas of the resort before it is fit to receive guests.
Due to the current state of the resort, WorldMark Coral Baja will remain closed through early summer 2015. We will be proactively canceling all reservations with arrival dates beginning now through June 18, 2015. If you would like to book an alternative location, please search online.
While the property is being repaired and restored, we encourage you to stay tuned to your owner website for resort updates.
