It has been a long time since I visited the Grand Canyon, and I have never been to St George Utah, so we booked a long weekend trip to visit both.  St George will be a 5 1/2 hour drive from our house in Southern California, then the Grand Canyon is another 2 1/2 hour drive.

Booking a 2 Bedroom Penthouse at Worldmark St George

We’ll drive to St. George early on a Saturday morning so we can spend the afternoon exploring and chilling in the private hot tub on our deck.  Then we’ll drive to the Grand Canyon on Sunday morning, spend the day there, then drive back to the timeshare in the late afternoon.  On Monday, we’ll relax a little before the noon check-out time, and we head home after a fun-filled weekend.

Planning a long weekend stay from Saturday through Monday is a MUCH better option than booking Friday through Sunday because Friday and Saturday nights are the most expensive nights of the week.  If we had booked Friday through Sunday, it would have been an additional 1,000 points in the regular 2 bedroom or an additional 1,350 points in the 2 bedroom Penthouse.

Looking at it another way, by booking Saturday through Monday, the points saved almost offset the additional points needed to upgrade to the Penthouse unit with the private hot tub!

At first, I thought about booking a normal 2 bedroom unit, but when I saw that the Penthouse had a jacuzzi tub on the deck, I knew it would be worth the extra 2,150 points.

Since we have young children, having the hot tub on the deck is key to allowing the adults to have a great time, without requiring one adult to stay behind while kids nap or go down for the night.

Pictures of the Worldmark St George timeshare

We have not had the pleasure of staying at Worldmark St George yet, but it seems really nice from the pictures.  There is a spacious living room and a full kitchen.

The kitchen looks like it would have everything you could want and is open to the living room so you don’t feel disconnected from the rest of your group.

The bedrooms look inviting, especially with a connected deck.  Our unit will have a King in the Master, a Queen in the second bedroom, and a Queen Murphy bed in the living room.

Outside the room, there is a pool that would be fun to splash around in if the weather cooperates.

If the weather is a little too cold, or during the winter, there is always a game room for a little family competition.

And if you’re the type who doesn’t want to miss a workout, the exercise room has enough basic equipment to break a good sweat.

Overall, this seems like a great resort, and I’m looking forward to experiencing all that it has to offer during our 2015 trip.

Conclusion

With Worldmark by Wyndham, you can book vacations up to 10 months in advance when not reserving a full week.  This trip will cost us 5,550 of our 20,000 points for the year, plus a housekeeping fee of $111.  We’re bringing another family along with us, so there will be shared costs of gas, food, and they’ll make a small contribution towards our annual dues… which provides them a far nicer place for far less than if they booked a cramped hotel on their own.
