Learn How to Snowboard at Snow Summit Timmy thumbs up

Mammoth Mountain is one of my favorite places to ski and snowboard on the West Coast. And Mammoth was the first place that Timmy learned how to snowboard, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Through the end of the ski season, kids ski free at Mammoth Mountain!

I’m not sure if there are any documents required to have your kids ski free at Mammoth Mountain. If you have big kids or they are ages 10-12, I would bring along a copy of their birth certificate just to be safe. Since my kids are ages 6 and 2, that won’t be an issue for them.

Mammoth Mountain Lift Tickets

As an adult, you aren’t so lucky. Lift tickets are still normal price. Boo.

Adult lift tickets start at $99 for a single-day pass and multi-day passes bring the average cost down even lower.  Click here for the latest prices for lift tickets directly from Mammoth Mountain.

I’ve had really good luck with buying discount lift tickets from Liftopia. Use my referral link to get .

Mammoth Mountain Season Passes

If you buy season passes towards the end of the year, you can ski the rest of the current season and all of the next for a discounted price.

Luckily, I don’t have to buy lift tickets right now. Since we plan on skiing and snowboarding a bunch of times at Mammoth Mountain (and I love a good deal), I bought a season pass in March that is good through the end of the 2017/2018 ski season at Mammoth Mountain.

As an added bonus, Mammoth Mountain Season Passes are also good at their affiliated resorts of June Lake, Bear Mountain, and Snow Summit. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are located in Southern California, and Timmy continued to learn how to snowboard at Snow Summit with lessons 3 and 4.

After completing his 4th lesson of the season Snow Summit, Mammoth’s sister resort, Timmy earned a free season pass.

Should you have travel insurance?

Although kids ski free at Mammoth Mountain, getting hurt can be crazy expensive!  Skiing and snowboarding can be dangerous activities, especially for people who are just learning how to ski or snowboard. If you’re going to learn how to ski or snowboard, consider getting a travel insurance policy to handle any medical emergency that may happen. As an added bonus, these policies also cover trip interruption should you miss your flight, the flight gets delayed, or your bags go missing or get delayed. Overall, pretty valuable stuff for a reasonable price.

The Bald Thoughts

Spring and summer skiing are awesome because the weather is warm and your fingers and toes don’t freeze. You’ll definitely hear less complaining out of the kiddos when they aren’t bundled up like the Michelin Man and upset because the weather is so cold. I highly recommend introducing your kids to skiing and snowboarding while the kids ski free at Mammoth Mountain. It will be a good intro to see if they like it while you’re planning next year’s vacations.

  1. $74 a day for a 3 of 4?
    How about $60 or even $54 for a 3 of 5 day. 🙂

I couldn’t find any at the price you quoted.

I get my Mammoth lift tickets at Liftopia all the time. Way cheaper.

    • Patrick, the $74 price is from Liftopia. Depending on the day of the week, number of days you buy, and how far in advance, Liftopia does offer some really great deals! That’s how I got my lift tickets when I went to Mammoth in January.
