5 Reasons Singapore Changi Airport is the best airport in the world

I was never excited to be stuck in an airport until I experienced the Singapore Changi Airport.  I was shocked at how amazing this airport really is! Singapore Changi Airport has 3 terminals, with each having something unique about them. I didn’t get to explore Terminal 3 because I didn’t have time, but here are 5 reasons Singapore Changi Airport is the best airport in the world!

Singapore Changi Airport Honorable Mention

Before I start the countdown, I want to make an honorable mention for the self-powered bicycles I saw in Terminal 3. I’ve seen walking treadmill workstations at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport before, but never bicycles to charge your electronics. A great way to burn a few calories before you board!

#5 Kids Playground

Traveling with kids can be a challenge for parents. For most kids, patience is not one of their virtues, and their attention span can be limited. The playground located in Terminal 1 is a good way for children to burn some energy before a long flight back home. Conveniently, in front of the playground is a Dunkin Donuts and a few grab n’ go food stands so one parent can watch the kids while the other buys snacks and drinks for the flight.

#4 Free Internet Workstations and WiFi

International travel can be great, but it can pose limitations when you cannot connect back home. Earlier this year, we examined which cellphone carrier was best for travel, but regardless of which carrier you have, you can’t beat connecting to WiFi for the fastest connection abroad. Passengers will have to scan their passport to gain unlimited high-speed WiFi access. The process is fast and takes no more than 2 minutes to connect to WiFi. A great option if you prefer not to use the free internet stations.

#3 Pharmacy

Let’s face it, the last thing you want to happen is to get sick and ruin your trip. Whether you’re departing from Singapore Changi Airport or have a layover, the airport has a 24/7 Pharmacy opened in Terminal 2 for any over-the-counter medication. I find this extremely convenient in case you develop something while transiting or fail to pack any medicine.

#2 Movie Theater

Have a long layover in Singapore Changi Airport? Well, don’t worry! You can take a seat inside their free movie theater located in Terminal 2 and 3. Each one offers a different genre at its location. Click here to see the latest movies available and what time the movies start.

#1 Rooftop Pool and Bar

Yes, you read that correctly! The Singapore Changi Airport has a rooftop pool and bar! This is by far the coolest thing I came across. The experience is very unique and offers scenic takeoffs from afar.  The pool is open daily from 6:00 am through Midnight. It costs $12 USD to use the pool with complimentary showers to rinse off afterward. They offer an alcohol package for $20 USD that includes entrance to the pool facility and your choice of beer or wine.

The Bald Thoughts

Who knew being in an airport could be so much fun? I arrived about 3 and half hours before my plane departed, and I wish I had more time to explore the airport. Singapore Changi Airport has something for every type of person. Being a frequent flyer, I have never seen an airport that offers such an array of products for travelers to try before departing. For the aforementioned reasons, I have dubbed Singapore Changi Airport the best airport in the world!
