Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel
The Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel is located halfway between the Kimpton Rouge and Kimpton Donovan Hotel. Most of the Kimpton DC properties are located nearby, just a short walk of the White House. The hotel is located at 1430 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20005.
The rooms are decorated to feel as if you’re “staying in a friend’s stylish downtown residence”. There are 178 rooms at the Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel that are converted from a former apartment building, which must be why these rooms are larger than most hotels in the DC area. The smallest rooms measure at least 300 square feet.
Standard rooms have 5 different configurations ranging from 300 to 425 square feet – Executive King, Executive Queen, Executive Queen Queen, Executive King Studio, and Spa Queen Queen Studio. There are 18 oversized, corner premium spa suites to indulge your senses. These suites are a spacious 645 square feet. You can see the floor plans for the standard and premium rooms here.

Radiator Restaurant
Radiator is the restaurant adjacent to the Kimpton Mason & Rook, and its decor pays homage to the 14th Street’s rich automotive history. Radiator is described as a “food focused cocktail bar”. Usually, with the Inner Circle free night, you receive a $50 dining credit for the on-site restaurant, but Radiator is not participating in this promotion.
On the plus side, Inner Circle members also receive a Chef’s Taste whenever they stay with Kimpton and eat at the hotel’s restaurant. In the past, we’ve received some delicious appetizers like Ahi Poke at Zimzala or a plate of Sushi at Brandon’s.
Kimpton Mason & Rook free night
All Kimpton Inner Circle members are offered a window of time, shortly after a new hotel opens, in which they can stay at the new property for free. I’ve used this benefit numerous times, including The Goodland near Santa Barbara, The Palladian in Seattle, The Shorebreak in Huntington Beach, and Hotel Tomo in San Francisco. We recently used this benefit at The Kimpton Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa over Labor Day Weekend and at the Kimpton Glove Park Hotel while I was in DC for the BoardingArea blogger conference (aka BACON) the first weekend of November 2016. And I’ve been able to book upcoming nights at the Kimpton Journeyman in Milwaukee and Kimpton Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman Islands for early 2017.
The Kimpton Mason & Rook free night benefit is available through April 30, 2017. Unfortunately, while I was in DC Kimpton didn’t have any space available at the Mason & Rook, so I was unable to take advantage of the free night benefit. The pictures look beautiful, so I’m totally bummed that my plans didn’t work out.

I became an Inner Circle member through a status match as a Hilton Diamond. With a status match, you need to stay a specific number of nights before you are eligible for the new hotel free night benefit.
From what I understand, Kimpton is no longer offering status matches effective January 1, 2016, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
