I love Kimpton’s Karma Rewards program.  You get so many great benefits, and if you’re an Inner Circle level member, you get to stay for free at their newest hotels.  Through September 1st, you can stay at the Pittsburgh Monaco for free and get $50 to dine at their restaurant, The Commoner.

What is Kimpton?

Kimpton was an independent hotel chain that most travelers haven’t heard of or stayed at.  The have about 65 properties spread across the US, with heavier concentrations in San Francisco, Washington DC, and Southern California.  They were recently acquired by IHG (better known for their Holiday Inn brand), but are being run as a separate company and rewards program (for now).

Every evening, Kimpton properties host a “wine hour” with your choice of a couple of different wines.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity for a few free drinks and to network with other hotel guests.

What is Karma Rewards?

Kimpton encourages everyone to sign up for their free rewards program so that you can get free Wi-Fi at their properties and a $10 “raid the mini bar” credit, even at the base level of rewards.  There are 4 tiers of rewards, with the highest being the Inner Circle, which you earn after 14 stays or 40 nights.

Kimpton Karma Rewards tier qualificationsI initially earned my Inner Circle status a year ago through a status match of my Hilton Diamond status ahead of my trip to New York City, where I stayed at the Eventi, 70 Park, Muse, and Ink48 properties and received awesome upgrades and yummy goodies waiting for me when I arrived, due to my newfound Inner Circle status.

Search below if you’d like to make a reservation at The Kimpton Monaco or any other hotel.

As an Inner Circle member, whenever Kimpton opens a new property, you get to stay there one night for free, plus you receive a $50 dining credit to eat at their on-site restaurant.  This is on top of all of the other perks that you receive for being an Inner Circle member:

  • instant upgrades
  • late check-out priority
  • complimentary Chef’s Taste (appetizer at the restaurant)
  • welcome amenity

The Pittsburgh Monaco is located in Downtown Pittsburgh and is described as “a boldly designed Beaux-Arts beauty across from Mellon Square Park in the Central Business District” by Kimpton.

The free night has been available for reservations starting March 1, 2015 and are available through September 1, 2015.  Call Kimpton to reserve your free night, if eligible, otherwise, click on the link above to reserve your room with your credit card.  The cash price for rooms over the next month range from $167 to $309, depending on which night you’ll be staying.

More Free Nights from Kimpton Coming Soon

Kimpton has 9 resorts listed on their site that should be opening in 2016.  There are plenty of great locations across the US, and even one in the Caribbean!  So, I know I’ll be taking advantage of my Inner Circle status as much as possible.

Here are the properties coming online soon:

  • Austin, TX
  • Nashville, TN
  • Denver
  • Winston-Salem, NC
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Milwaukee, WI
  • Palm Springs, CA
  • Sacramento, CA
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

And I heard that they’re working on several others, including a couple more locations in Washington, DC.

  1. The Kimpton in Austin will be opening this year. I’m going to stay there hopefully in Nov. I need to see about status matching to inner circle. I want to be spoiled too!

    • Austin is a great city. Anna and I went there a few years ago for a weekend and are looking forward to going back. When you get the status match with Kimpton, you have to have 3 paid stays with Kimpton completed before you can take advantage of the “free night on us” benefit. Please let me know what you think of the Austin property and the Kimpton program!!!
